star trek: reboot (or whatever it's really called)

I'd been avoiding news of the new Star Trek film because I assumed it would be godawful. And then suddenly there's glowing reviews everywhere. Eee. I think we're going to have to go see this this weekend.

Also, is it just me or is the Boston Globe reviewer very, very aware of the slash contingent? I'm not a Kirk/Spock shipper -- never have been. (If I'm going to ship Spock, it's Spock/Uhuru or Spock/McCoy, and Kirk/Enterprise/Universe is really my OT3 for TOS.) But take this quote ("he" is the director):

Above all, he understands the potency and pleasure of the Kirk/Spock relationship.

And then goes on to compare it to Holmes&Watson. It's SO WEIRD to see that paragraph in a newspaper review.
